Intensification of EGIP delivery leads to changes in train timetables

Over the coming months, work to electrify the railway across the Central Belt will mean timetable changes for some services from Sunday 4 September.

The routes affected by timetable changes are:

Edinburgh – Glasgow via Falkirk High

Perth / Dunblane / Stirling – Edinburgh

Inverness/Aberdeen/Dundee/Alloa – Glasgow

Some services will start later on Sunday mornings, and will only operate on part of the route between Sunday and Thursday evenings, after approximately 8:30pm. Buses will replace trains on portions of each route at these times.

The service alterations run from Sunday 4 September until Thursday 31 March 2017 with a break for the festive period. This will enable engineers to progress electrification of Scotland’s railway - part of the Scottish Government's network-wide enhancement programme.

Electrification will deliver more seats on new faster, longer, greener trains from autumn 2017.

Details of the changes from 4 September can be found at www.scotrail.co.uk/electrification.

Full timetables will return over the festive period from 8 December to 7 January.
