Bridge Parapets Programme
In addition to the rolling programme of bridge clearance work which has raised the height of more than 50 structures across the route, we also need to raise the height of parapets (side walls) of over 100 bridges to comply with new safety standards.
The parapet walls need to be of sufficient height to ensure public are kept a safe distance from 25k volt electric cables which will be in place over the line as part of the electrification
Because of the type of work and where it has to be undertaken on the bridge, it can only be done safely at night when trains are not running. Consequently, work will be mainly nightshifts and at weekends, delivered between midnight and 5am
Equipment used means some disturbance is unavoidable, but we will make every effort to minimise noise. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause.
The table below shows dates and locations of parapet works and will be updated to reflect upcoming activity Follow on twitter @NetworkrailEGIP for latest information
