Edinburgh Gateway Interchange

In order to enable an efficient interchange with the Edinburgh Tram project for onward access to the airport as well as to support wider development to the West of Edinburgh adjacent to the airport, a new station will be established at Gogar.

What this work looks like

  • The new station will comprise two tracks, two platforms, with linking accessible footbridge, station building and concourse
  • External to the core station development we will create a pedestrian underpass below the A8 with associated car parking and highway alterations to facilitate access to the station
  • To connect the tram to the train element, a linking structure will be created to house walkways, lifts and escalators connecting the sites
  • Associated landscaping including retaining structures and walls will be deployed to enhance and complete the visual dynamics to seamlessly link the two elements of the development
